About 1900 S. Ewing
In January 1940, Rev. J.C. & Nell Hibbard, along with 30 people met under a tent at the corner of S. Ewing Ave. and Georgia Ave. This very first meeting of Gospel Lighthouse Church was just the beginning of a church that continues to make a large impact to this day. One year later, Gospel Lighthouse dedicated it's very first completed building, pictured above on the left. Over the next 9 years, the church experienced exponential growth and needed more space.
In 1950, they completed the church pictured above on the right- including a 1,000 seat auditorium, over 50 classrooms, and one of the very first unsupported dome ceilings in the United States.
Over the next 24 years, Gospel Lighthouse continued to flourish and grow, until they sold the facility and moved to their current location on W. Illinois. From 1975 through 2002, Full Gospel Holy Temple met at 1900 S. Ewing and were an incredible force for the Gospel. Since they moved to their current location on I-20, Full Gospel Holy Temple has rented the buildings to several other churches. Today, it stands empty and ready to be filled with life once again.
The property includes the two church buildings, a caretakers house, a large parking lot located across the street, and two undeveloped residential lots. The facility spans and entire city block, and is made up of nearly 50,000 square feet of usable space.
